2021-22 Astrological Year: Experimenting With New Things

This is a yearly horoscope, which is correlated to the astrological year. It starts at April 2021 (Aries season) and ends at April 2022 (Aries season).

This year, we are feeling much better — especially after ending a lot of things we did not resonate with last year. However, we are now left a bit empty handed, without much to show for our efforts. As a result, we feel a bit lonely and uncertain. Because of that, we may act out unexpectedly to fill the empty space in our lives by bringing new things into it (job, relationships, homes, etc.) as an attempt to obtain security. However, these new things we may bring into our lives are not a true match for us and who we are becoming. They aren’t a true match because we don’t know who we are yet in this new space (and just wanted to fill the empty hole). As a result, we may end these new things just as fast as they began, which can be uncomfortable.

Because this can be a bit difficult, I recommend you either hold off on bringing new things into your life this year, or bring new things into your life with the understanding it is just for a small time. I also recommend that you do your best to learn more from these new things, or failed experiments — particularly about what you do or not want after this point.

Explore this year’s four seasons below.

Aries Equinox: Planting

Feeling more in tune with our authentic self

March 20-June 21, 2021

We now feel much better and more able to create an authentic experience for ourselves (especially after ending some things we did not like or resonate with last year). We also feel much more able to heal from these past negative negative experiences. But the more we lean into this better experience, we begin to feel anxious and nervous. That is because we still don’t know for certain what comes next in our lives and who we will be (even though we have inklings), and we want answers.

Jupiter enters Pisces (May 14, 2021)
Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius (May 26, 2021)
Mercury retrograde in Gemini (May 30-June 22, 2021)
New Moon Solar Eclipse in Gemini (June 10, 2021)
Saturn retrograde in Aquarius square Uranus in Taurus again (June 12-17, 2021)

Cancer Solstice: Growing

Trying to bring in new things to fill the empty space

June 21-September 23, 2021

We are glad that we are in a different experience of life, but we still don’t know what that new experience is fully. As a result, we feel anxious. As a result, we try to bring more new things into our lives that we feel in the moment are authentic to us, in order to fill the empty space. Some of these new things we bring into our lives could be unexpected.

Jupiter retrogrades back into Aquarius (July 29, 2021)

Libra Equinox: Harvest

Realizing that these new things don’t resonate with us

September 23-December 21, 2021

We have brought a few new things into our lives in order to fill the empty space (left behind by the things we ended last year). However, we now start to realize that some of those things we recently brought into our lives don’t truly resonate with ourselves and our values. That is because we don’t really know yet who we truly are in the new space, without the old things we left behind.

Mercury retrograde in Libra (September 28-October 18, 2021)
Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Taurus (November 19, 2021)
New Moon Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius (December 4, 2021)

Capricorn Solstice: Purifying

Ending the new things we just started

December 21, 2021-March 19, 2022

Because we recently brought some new things into our lives that don’t fully resonate with us, we now realize that we need to end those things. We then make some hard decisions to end those things (which could involve relationships and money). It is difficult, but needs to be done. We then feel more better and more able to be authentic, even though we are still uncertain about what is next (similar to how we felt at the beginning of this year).

Venus retrograde in Capricorn (December 20-January 29, 2021)
Saturn direct in Aquarius square Uranus in Taurus again (December 23-28, 2021)
Jupiter re-enters Pisces (December 29, 2021)
Mercury retrograde in Aquarius to Capricorn (January 15, 2021- February 3, 2022)
North Node enters Taurus (January 19, 2022)

When we don’t truly know who we are yet, we can take actions that don’t fully align with ourselves and who we are becoming.

Questions for Reflection

You can answer these questions to yourself, in your journal, or in the comment section.

  1. How do you feel after ending some things in your life last year that no longer resonate with you?
  2. What can you do to help yourself heal or feel more at ease in this different space?
  3. What new things would you like to bring into your life — relationships, jobs, homes, etc.?
  4. What about these new things might you still be uncertain about, or might still be based in old preferences and beliefs?
  5. How can you experiment with these new things you mentioned without fully committing to them yet (while still remaining in integrity)?
  6. What can you learn about yourself and who you are becoming from these experiments with new things? Did these new things teach you more about what you do or don’t want from life next?
